A diaphragm pump is a type of positive displacement pump that operates by using a flexible diaphragm to move fluids. The diaphragm is typically made of rubber, PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), or another flexible material, and it is attached to a mechanical actuator that makes it move up and down in a reciprocating motion. This movement creates alternating suction and pressure within the pump chamber, drawing in fluid on the intake stroke and then expelling it through the discharge valve on the compression stroke.
